[The talk with Shigeru had gone as smoothly as possible, given the circumstances, a little like a doctor's appointment; he had given them the rundown on the 'treatment' Sousuke would have to go through and how often they would have to meet, if he wanted to heal as soon as possible. There would be some pain involved in the process during their sessions, too, but it's all part of regular recovery.
The not so regular part is that Shigeru isn't so much a doctor, but rather, a healer with mysterious powers, abilities that are not readily available back in their own world, and the treatment would be a whole limb reconstruction from scratch. Not your usual physical therapy session.
So here they are, back in the auditorium, trying to ignore the elephant doing cartwheels in the room. Rin can't blame Sousuke for being reluctant to accept this help, but he doesn't want to let him give up, doesn't want to let this last light die out before giving it a try. It's his responsibility, in a way, to do everything in his power to restore Sousuke to his full potential-- because he tried to nurture that hope in Sousuke's heart before, and because even now, he can't help but still dream of swimming with his best friend, side by side, out of this school.]
... well. At least there were no wands involved.
[A small joke, an attempt at breaking the tension. He's a little scared of Sousuke's final answer, and were this any different, Rin wouldn't even give him a chance to protest, would steamroll right past any lingering doubt with something along the lines of "when are you going to start the treatment?" but things have changed, his questions have changed. They have changed.]
